Shooting Schedule

“There are two phases to a movie. First you shoot the movie, and then you make the movie. Generally, post-production is longer than filming.”

Keenen Ivory Wayans

Well I guess it is time I start preparing for phase one: shooting the movie.

Now that we have established a script, production company, and distribution company Addie and I decided it was time to establish a shooting schedule before both of our schedules got too busy.

Choosing a time to shoot the movie seemed a challenging task, our schedules seemed to be complete opposites.

She had work and was off campus most days taking classes at the college.

I had sports after school, sometimes late into the night, and was on campus all day.

Luckily when we sat down to our calendars we were able to find some days that would work for us.

Saturday February 29, 2020

Saturday March 7, 2020

Sunday March 8, 2020

In order to maintain as much consistency as possible we hope to complete all shooting within one day (Saturday February 29th). The additional days listed are back ups just incase we need to go back and reshoot some scenes.

However if we are unable to complete all of our shooting on this date consistency is luckily not as important to our film. In fact we plan to do a montage sequence where scenes could occur on different days. We have even discussed involving costume changes so it seems like the events being filmed are occurring on different days.

An additional challenge is that some of our scenes can not be filmed on a Saturdays or Sundays because they require us using the school parking lot. While we would be able to access the school’s parking lot over the weekend, there would not be any other cars or students in the parking lot, which we hoped to utilize in our scene.

Because of this there will be an additional date of shooting planned for February 27, 2020 during class time. While we can shoot earlier in the week it is forecast to be cold and rainy Monday through Wednesday, so Thursday would be the best option.

By shooting on these days we hope to have a rough cut prepared on March 2nd. From here we can begin post production and assess the need for reshooting.

I'm a ninth grader at Pasco High and enjoy writing and taking pictures. I love being able to get my work out there.
