Story Board

“Life is like a movie to me. Everybody has their own movie that’s playing out every day, and you’re writing it.”

Julie Roberts

And just like in life sometimes plans need to be made before we face a busy day. This is why before we begin filming on Thursday I will be story boarding key scenes that we plan to include in our title sequence.

Story boarding will allow us to ensure that we film the shots that we need in order to create the right plot for the film. We are not filming a horror movie, so jump cuts, where there seems to be no transition between shots should be avoided at all costs.

Story boarding is also beneficial to our style of production because we are creating a montage that involves music. When it comes to editing the soundtrack to match the footage shot for a film, a movie that has is been shot with the soundtrack in mind flows more seamlessly together. As stated in my previous post, the matching of music with visuals on the screen makes for a more pleasing experience by the audience.

Below I have included some planned shots we should include in our title sequences. The plan is to shoot on Thursday and the rest on Saturday. We hope to get more shot variety than what is depicted here.

Below each picture I have also included any dialogue that will be occurring within the scene along with time stamps for specific songs.

We plan to use another song other than Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant at the end of the title sequence unfortunately, this song has not been found yet. We begin shooting the scenes that involve this undetermined song this Thursday (yes we are shooting the end of our title sequence first). So, we will either have to reshoot this scene once we have found the right song, or spend more time editing the sound and footage later on.

I do not expect everything to go to plan, but I am excited to begin shooting and hope to see our shots come out better than planned rather than worse.
